Have you thought how many aspirants have applied for the same role as yours in the same company, mentioned experience, education qualifications and much more? The question here is have you mentioned what the recruiter would like to know about you. Considering, a candidate will not be present physically to answer the questions of the hiring team, a resume is all we have to start our application process. Therefore, probing a suitable job is not difficult with the right error-free resume.
That is why it is necessary to upgrade the way of making a resume quickly by avoiding three major mistakes and standout magnificently amid competitors.
1. Inappropriate format
While a recruiter sees a resume, the concentration is on the presentation of details such as font size, font style, sub-headings, added bulletins, and simplicity of format.
- Sometimes, “less, is more”. Make your resume concise until five years of experience has written
- Use intelligible vocabulary like competence, expertise, orchestrated, instead of overused and dull vocabulary like skilled, leadership, creative and experienced.
- Make concise and crispy pointers defining you.
- Replace fancy and obsolete fonts to readable and engaging ones.
2. Using generalised words for specific expertise
Aspirants need to make sure whether specialisations are mentioned intelligibly. It is priority to become specific about areas of expertise, which gives an idea to the recruiter about your abilities. This is when a recruiter will find your resume extraordinary. Moreover, provide details that are appropriate for the third-party reviewers to understand as well.
Supposedly, a hardware technician should involve detailed roles performed as a technician like entry networking technician, set-up hardware and install software, data collection and reporting.
3. Emphasise task instead of accomplishment
Usually job seekers mention tasks performed at a former workplace, which makes it difficult for the recruitment cell to understand specific abilities of the candidate. It is vital for the candidates to incorporate achievements and growth as a performer. What impact as a Systems engineering manager have you formulated?
For instance, a Systems engineering manager may include, “By implementing the effective technical solutions and strategies, completed projects successfully, that ultimately led to Company’s growth rate from 50% to 70%.”
Instead of relying on general descriptions of your capabilities, flaunt a history of success, and prove that you are the one the company is looking for.
