Software giant Microsoft has announced the appointment of Irina Ghose as the Managing Director of India. Irina Ghose, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft India, will now take on the responsibility of leading the company’s operations in the country. This development comes after the resignation of Anant Maheshwari, the former President of Microsoft India, who decided to pursue new opportunities.
During his tenure at Microsoft, Anant Maheshwari played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth in various areas, including workplace productivity, skilling initiatives, and local innovation on a large scale in India. Confirming his departure, a Microsoft spokesperson stated, “We can confirm that Anant has decided to leave Microsoft to pursue a role outside the company.”
As the newly appointed Managing Director, Irina Ghose will be responsible for engaging with industry verticals across Microsoft’s solution areas, with a particular focus on leveraging artificial intelligence. Her main objective will be to drive innovation and digital transformation for customers in India, fostering market-making engagements and delivering core business outcomes.
Having been with Microsoft for over two decades, Irina Ghose brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Throughout her career, she has held various leadership positions in Strategy, Sales, and Partner Solutions across different segments, including Enterprise, Solution Sales, and Education. In her previous role as Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft India, Irina Ghose led end-to-end operations and implemented effective go-to-market strategies. She also spearheaded one of the company’s largest sales enablement programs, focusing on delivering world-class solutions to customers.
Irina Ghose holds an Electrical Engineering degree from IIT BHU and an MBA from XLRI, highlighting her strong academic background. With her extensive experience and expertise, she is well-equipped to lead Microsoft’s operations in India and drive further growth and innovation in the region. The appointment of Irina Ghose as the Managing Director of India reflects Microsoft’s commitment to the country and its vision for digital transformation and technological advancement.
