Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, upskilling for employees became an important phrase to excel in their professional careers. Also, business leaders and HR leaders wanted their workforce to take up an in-house upskilling program and wanted them to increase their productivity. The second COVID-19 wave recently also forced all the business models to change their thought process towards skills of their workforce. This meant adapting their way of doing things to cope in rapidly changing conditions.
Well, as a business model, most of the firms don’t know what is coming next but businesses still have a chance to save themselves and their employees by developing a talent strategy (technical skills and soft skills) to develop the abilities of their workforce. However, it is also obvious that most of us tend to learn needed skills while working on them and sometimes new technologies too for better opportunities in the coming time, and also save their existing jobs. So, is upskilling an unnecessary hype for employees during work from home?
