The COVID-19 pandemic has been painting a gloomy picture of employment scenarios across the globe. With an increase in the number of workers laid off, you might be thinking whether you should continue to send out resumes or assume that no one is hiring in these unprecedented times.
If you’re thinking this then you might be wrong. As per various career experts, this can be the most suitable time to ace your job hunt or network. So, here are a few tips to enhance your job search activity.
1. Check in your job offer
You might’ve already had a job lined up, through a previous internship or via on-campus recruiting. Keep in touch with the hiring manager. If the company is open for business think about ways you might be able to propose helping them out as an intern or an employer.
2. Be Flexible
Be open to everything that comes in your way because maybe it is not your dream job but learnings never get wasted. Take the present opportunity you are getting it as you are gaining the work experience.
3. Continue to network
Reach out to people who had good contacts in companies so that it will help you to get a job. Also, make a list of people in your network you feel comfortable approaching and let them know you’re looking for a job.
5. Stand out from the crowd
If you want to mark your position in a particular company, don’t just say you want to work at an organisation because it’s a very good company. Show why you want to work for that company and that you’re already familiar with their products, challenges, and recent announcements. Also, mention your skills that are suitable for their company.
6. Update your skills
Expanding your knowledge will be helpful during the time of COVID-19. You will want to show that you were productive by the time when didn’t have any job opportunity but still learned some skills that will help in your future work.
