Indian IT major, Wipro has decided to roll out promotions for high performing employees in December. The company will roll out promotions to high performances as a reward and to motivate them.
Even earlier this year, Wipro had said that the salary increments for this year will be deferred amid Covid-19 pandemic. The tech firm had assured that it will honour campus job offers.
A Wipro spokesperson said, “Our employees have shown remarkable resolve and resilience in ensuring seamless business continuity and maintaining high standards of service in these challenging times.”
The promotions will be offered to high performing employees in bands up to B3. In Wipro, bands up to B3 comprise almost 80% of the company’s total workforce. As a result, almost 1,45,000 Wipro employers will receive the promotions.
As a measure of Covid-19 pandemic, almost 98% of Wipro employees are working from home (WFH). However, the company has no plan to continue remote work for its workforce. Wipro chairman Rishad Premji recently said that he believes that people need to work from offices to build a culture of innovation.
Other Indian tech firms are also rolling out promotions to employees. As the demand for IT services increases, IT service firms are rolling out hikes and promotions.
Even earlier, Wipro had said that it is pausing hikes and promotions amid Covid-19. TCS has also said that it will selectively offer promotions. Capgemini is among the first IT firms to roll out promotions to its employees.
